Lilla Essingen

On our walk in Norrmälarstrand in Stockholm you will pass Stadshuset, the City Hall.

Lilla Essingen is an island in Stockholm between Kungsholmen and Stora Essingen.

Hundred years ago there were several villas built here with names like Bellmansro and Montebello.

Most villas were replaced by block of flats around 1930.

Earlier there were several large industries on the island of Lilla Essingen, including Lux (vacuum cleaners). Recently the industries have been replaced by a modern residential area which is called Essinge Udde.

Lilla Essingen has been called "the countryside in the city." The islands offers a fantastic walk by the lake of Mälaren.
